General Description

The purpose of this job is to assist the Chief of Children and Adolescent Services in the coordination and implementation of clinical services offered in Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Programs. Responsible for staff training and supervision of EHN Clinical Services team as deemed appropriate. Position may require Director to provide direct care service as an LPHA conducting assessments, diagnosing, and conducting individual, group and family sessions as well as supervising employees on a one on one and/or group basis. The Director will be the primary contact person for clients and families and will spearhead efforts to engage clients in treatment. The incumbent is responsible for the design and implementation of specialized clinical programs, therapists and treatment modalities. Coordinates and deploys clinical team members to provide services to a variety of clinics and/or programs and ensures flexibility, appropriate documentation and provision of quality services. The Director will provide support, education, consultation, and basic services to participants and their families. With younger individuals, working with families will be more prominent since they play a pivotal role in the individuals' lives during adolescence and the first years of adulthood. The Director will monitor, oversee, and supervise the team-based process and provide support, education, and consultation for staff.

This position reports directly to the Chief of Child/Adolescent Services. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, completing employee performance appraisals, and chart audits.
  • Provides clinical supervision including orientation and training, individual and group supervision and evaluation of performance.
  • Assists therapists in providing direct therapy and education to families (parents and youth) of seriously delinquent youth, to include strategies for enhancing cognition and affective development.
  • Ensures CAD Specialty programs successfully achieve program outcomes, maintain fidelity, and fiscal stewardship. Programs may include, but are not limited to Multi Systemic Therapy Program and Wraparound Services is successfully meeting program outcomes and following fidelity
  • Ensures that best clinical practices are being utilized by staff by researching evidence-based practices, implementing new/updated protocols, auditing charts/notes, and conducting trainings to keep staff informed
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring, and training of staff and volunteers/students.
  • Works with State Research and Training Specialist as applicable.
  • Conducts, coordinates, and/or facilitates training, presentations, and meetings.
  • Maintains compliance with supervision requirements. Responsible for establishing and maintaining hourly tracking system.
  • Co-signs clinical documentation (assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge planning, etc.) when required.
  • Participates in and facilitates leadership meetings as appropriate.
  • Stays informed of and distributes information to staff related to the legal and ethical issues involved in the counseling and psychiatric field.
  • Ensures that Requests for Records are completed in a timely manner.
  • Manages grant funded programs to include daily tasks of working towards and meeting grant requirements.
  • Works on program sustainability plan: applying for additional grants, plan and initiate billing, decreasing costs, increasing revenues, making necessary program changes, etc.
  • Maintains compliance with all Joint Commission training requirements relevant to job duties, including but not limited to those dealing with use of restraints and physical holding of individuals receiving services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject supplemented by one (1) year of supervisory experience and three (3) years of experience in direct use of pragmatic (i.e., structural, strategic and functional) family therapies; individual therapy with children and adults using cognitive behavioral techniques, or closely related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.


Experience with trauma-informed resiliency-oriented care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices such as Nurturing Parenting, Play Therapy, and family therapies.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principles, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.

Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Involves routine and frequent exposure to:

  • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
  • Other extreme hazards not listed above.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Requires Texas Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Texas LPC-S or LCSW Supervisor licensed preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
  • Must possess and maintain Qualified Mental Health Professional-Community Service (QMHP-CS) certification.
  • Child and Adolescents Needs and Strengths (CANS) certification preferred.
