General Description

The purpose of this job is to perform specialized inventory control work in the receipt, storage and issuance of supplies and equipment essential to the support of consumer services. An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for procurement, receiving, stocking and issuing of supplies and equipment.

This class works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Orders stock and non-stock equipment and supplies through outside vendors in a timely and cost-effective manner and authorizes payments.
  • Manage inventory, including current stock and new deliveries.
  • Ensure the accuracy of purchase orders.
  • Must possess purchasing and inventory management skills when conducting duties.
  • Work within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders.
  • Maintains and reports manual and computerized physical and perpetual inventory records as necessary.
  • Assists in the process and delivery of mail and supplies.
  • Monitors the movement of stocked equipment and supplies.
  • Assists in issuing, receiving and storing of equipment and supplies.
  • Conducts quarterly and yearly physical inventory of all equipment and supplies.
  • Checks delivery of equipment and supplies against the invoices to make sure they are billed and shipped properly.
  • Submits warranty claims for equipment still under original equipment warranty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by two (2) year of experience in customer service, inventory control, warehouse services or related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must possess purchasing and inventory management skills when conducting duties.

Physical Demands

Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, dancing, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment)

  • Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
    • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
    • Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
    • Other extreme hazards not listed above.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
