General Description

The purpose of this job is to work closely with and under the supervision of the Director of Policy and Governmental Affairs to identify funding opportunities, develop and write grant proposals, and ensure the successful submission and onboarding of awarded grants. The role collaborates with departments such as clinical operations, accounting, business operations, and finance to prepare strong applications and to ensure grant deliverables are met. The position plays a critical role in aligning external funding opportunities with organizational priorities.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Researches, develops, and writes grant proposals to secure external funding, conducting research as needed to support strong submissions. Assists with grant onboarding and reporting activities to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Ensure that contract/grant metrics, deliverables, and other relevant information are properly entered into organizational databases and routinely reviewed for accuracy.
  • Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate on an ongoing basis with external agencies, internal leadership, and program managers about contract/grant areas of concern.
  • Applies for grant and contract opportunities, grant/contract development based on organizational priorities.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to collect program data, budgets, and narratives needed for proposals.
  • Completes and submits grant applications and contract applications.
  • Establishes complete understanding of programs and services needed to implement funded programs.
  • Provides technical assistance to program and grant managers and/or supervisors.
  • Trains relevant staff on accessing, utilizing, and other aspects of contract/grant management system.
  • Provides technical support in all issues relating to grant application, grant amendments, contract/grant management software, and other related issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree in public administration, social sciences, social work, public health, business, English/creative writing, or related field preferred, supplemented by two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in grant or proposal writing; contract management role, such as purchasing or contracting; project management or related field; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience with trauma-informed services; cognitive behavioral therapies, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); and motivational therapies including the use of incentives, preferred.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principals, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.

Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
