General Description

The purpose of this job is to work collaboratively with clinical/practice administration to efficiently and effectively manage the day-to-day operations of medical services and manage all resources needed to optimize the level of patient care and revenue cycle management for the Child and Adolescent (CAD) Outpatient Behavioral Health Clinic. The Director of CAD Outpatient Services is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and/or controlling all aspects of the assigned outpatient clinic's internal and external customer service, human resource and financial management operations. Promotes an environment, to ensure continuity and quality of service and care between the operations, and its patients and staff.

This position reports directly to the Chief of Child/Adolescent Services. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

  • Responsible for personnel processes including hiring, evaluations, counseling, coaching, and staff development.
  • Builds strong positive communication with clinical providers and works as a team to enhance the success of the assigned programs.
  • Develops strong inter-department teamwork to meet the needs of the patients and providers, and drive decision-making and other actions.
  • Responsible for planning, directing, implementing and coordinating the clinic medical efforts for CAD services
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. Including but not limited to, communication as it relates to failed, canceled or late patient appointments.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to expand revenue sources and ancillary services and reduce expense
  • Monitors and works in conjunction with the Utilization Management Department as it pertains to service delivery regarding authorized and non-authorized units of service.
  • Analyzes and staff's front office and back-office staff to meet needs of providers and patients efficiently and courteous
  • Monitors general office operations and performs a wide variety of administrative tasks for assigned CAD programs, ensuring office operations are performed in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting fiscal performance of services for the assigned programs 
  • Participates in budget creation and expense management.
  • Ensure that all activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulation, Joint Commission standards, EHN Compliance Plan and all laws governing healthcare operations
  • Support EHN's Continuous Quality Improvement Plan and measures effectiveness on that plan to demonstrate clinical excellence.
  • Responsible for establishing and implementing a safe working environment that meets all licensure, regulatory, and accreditation/certification requirements
  • Submits requested data and reports by the target date established in conjunction with the Chief of Child/Adolescent Services.
  • Participates in the design of unit services and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred, in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral Health or related field supplemented by four (4) years of experience in case management, outpatient operations, or closely related field and with two (2) years of supervisory experience; or possession of any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Experience with trauma-informed resiliency-oriented care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and other evidence-based practices such as Nurturing Parenting, Play Therapy, and family therapies.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of trauma-informed theories, principles, and practices (includes multi-faceted understanding of concepts such as community trauma, intergenerational and historical trauma, parallel processes, and universal precautions), preferred.

Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

  • Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
    • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
    • Other extreme hazards not listed above.

Special Certifications and Licenses

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a TB, criminal background and drug screen.
  • LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) preferred.
